Redland City Council runs an Accessible Beach Program at Wellington Point Recreation Reserve in Wellington Point. Surf Life Saving Queensland lifeguards set up and supervise the beach matting and a WaterWheels beach chair. Sessions are free, but you need to book online, for up to an hour at a time. A carer must stay with you and go into the water with you, because lifeguards won't help with transfers. The program runs on weekends and public holidays from September to April, and in some school holidays.
